Summary: A year after the death of the mother, a French family copes with its loss. The son, Julien, hangs out with his best friend, Alice, but becomes infatuated with a bookstore assistant who wears her hair in a chignon (knot). Younger sister, Emma, struggles with her sexual identity. The father, Gilles, tentatively considers the advances of a married woman.
